On Repeat: Pull and Pull – 2PM

I’m taking a very, very short break from writing my current project because I have been very distracted. Thank you very much Twitter, YouTube and Facebook for the very distracting feeds that you’re showing on my timeline; you can really take a woman’s time regardless if she doesn’t have much in her hand or what. But then no regrets, I saw what I wanna see and I am indeed thankful. That last word of gratitude is less peppered with sarcasm than the first one or is not containing any hint of sarcasm at all, maybe.

Right so the current song on repeat in my player is Pull and Pull by 2PM off their album Go Crazy! I’ll be honest though that my favorite track off the album is Rain is Falling (비가와; bigawa) mainly because of its sad theme. Yes, I always go for the sad song every time though I did like Pull and Pull as well when I first listened to it. Curious that I’m listening to Pull and Pull instead of Rain is Falling, right? Well, I got curious. Someone mentioned that he likes this song and I am all “why, what’s with that song?” All I can think of is it really gives off that very sexy feel and that’s it. So I checked the translation and what do you know, there just might be more to it than sexiness. And I am lost in my delusional world all over again. Who wouldn’t, I mean, just read along:

Hello Pretty girl
My sweetheart
When I look at you
It’s like a glow world
You dazzle and shine
I can’t even look at you
Except like this

(Get low)
You and I in Slow motion
(Let it go)
However my heart leads me
I can’t wait so I text you first again

(So I just want you girl
Can always be together)
So you can come to me
(So wanna touch you girl
Can always read your mind)
So you can fall for me girl

I’m gonna lay you down
Wanna lay you down
I’m gonna lay you down
(So I just want you girl
Can always be together)

Every time I open my eyes in the morning
I want you to be next to me
When I see you closing your eyes, I want to kiss you
Your perfect face, your soft lips
I’m amazed, oh my god, you’re so beautiful

(Get low)
Every day, I’m in Slow motion
(Let it go)
This makes you angry again
You pull ahead in our conversation but look so calm
So again today, I’ll lay you down just like yesterday

Please know
That I have no choice
Even if I may seem pathetic sometimes

I’m your baby
You’re my lady
I can’t stop

So pull & pull & pull to feel
No push & pull but I love u girl in love

I don’t think there’s any explanation needed anymore as to why someone likes this song, the lyrics speaks for itself; and truly it give me so much hope; not that I’m out of it although of course, most probably, it’s just me.

Spot On: 미친거 아니야?(GO CRAZY!) by 2PM

It’s an awesome Wednesday! Aside from some discomfort and a reminder that I am not a robot, that I am a human being and a woman actually, today is an awesome day!  Why? Because finally, finally the wait for the craziest MV ever is over! Squeeeee! I don’t have any plans of hiding my excitement and glee; nope, I am not gonna hide it, ever!

I know just a few people know that I am a 2PM fan, like just a certain few because I’m a shy KPOP listener, or maybe. And those who know knows that I’ve been waiting for their comeback like crazy, like literally counting the days and checking the official YT account for any update whatsoever because I am WAITING for this. The wait is worth every minute and second of it.

I’ve seen this MV last night, coz like they said, the MV will be released on the 10th of September and it was. At exactly 12:00am KST (7:00pm GST) the MV was released for the world to view, in all its colorful and fun glory:

It is soooo awesome I passed out, and when I regain my senses I listened to it again then passed out; repeat 10, 20 and most probably more times. 2PM made an MV to go crazy for and I don’t have the right words to say how incredible the song and the MV are. I do, by the way, want to list what’s so awesome about the MV, here it is:

  1. The element of fun. I’m sure a lot will agree that fun is a necessity, it is a must have to make everything bearable, work, everyday life and love life, let’s include that though it’s a “Not Applicable” for me. I think the concept they adopt for this MV is “it’s the weekend, we are all burned out from our daily routine, let’s have some crazy fun time.” And believe it or not, in my 20s, I did that every once in a while.
  2. Easy to follow and fun choreography. I keep saying fun because watching this MV I really had so much fun, the choreography is really easy to follow that I was copying the motorcycle dance on my first listen. Like there’s nothing to it. And I’m not a good dancer, I just love trying.
  3. The multitude of colors. I’ve watched a lot of 2PM MV and so far this is the most colorful and I love it, I really do love it. They all managed to look really good in their colorful clothes, I bet only a few people can pull that off. Wooyoung’s outfit gave me a flashback of Secret Garden, Kim Joo-won’s track suit. Shining shimmering splendid! I so love blue!
  4. Portrayal of intoxication. I think Do Min-joon whenever I see someone floating with the moon on their back and to see six beautiful people do that, I might be intoxicated and so are they.
  5. Being themselves. I watched about all the Real 2PM vids and this MV shows the side of them they usually show when they sit together, just goofing off being young people. It’s cute.

Yeap, they went crazy; they just had a go at fun and came out looking oh so deliciously awesome. I’m thankful they drop the MV earlier, makes a good company while waiting for the album to be released. I’m happily camping and I might dance and go crazy while I’m at it.

Getting into the Groove with MBLAQ

Or my completely dimwitted way of saying “a written reaction to Be a Man’s MV”

Right, so I never thought this day would come that I’d be writing something like this; who would have thought. But I guess it’s something inevitable, something that was on the way or maybe has already arrived but I refuse to acknowledge, or maybe more than that. Anyway, it’s too late to turn back, and since I’m already here anyways, by that I mean I am already into K-ent, why not go all the way. Thus, I am embracing it fully and taking the plunge.

A few weeks ago.. Wait, let me check my calendar to be sure.. *checking calendar* Yup, a few weeks ago, out of curiosity and because I’ve been receiving tweets from @soompi and reading post all over fb and some blogs that I follow, I watched the MV of Be a Man by MBLAQ. Admittedly, it’s not really my first time to watch a Kpop MV; I’ve watched a few – EXO’s, Wonder Girls’, Taeyang’s and some other, the occasion though, is rare. I don’t count watching FT Island’s MVs as watching Kpop because for me, FT Island is more K-alternative rock-ish band. I do count them as a boy band though because they are all boys and in a band.

Well, enough of my fixation with FT Island for now, as I said, I watched the MV of MBLAQ’s Be a Man and surprise, surprise, hot stuff:

From my visual perspective, it’s no doubt a feast for the eyes: awesome choreography, editing and phasing; not to mention hot boys in suits, just the right ingredients for a hearty, scrumptious feast for the eyes. As for the musicality, they have done an exemplary job of putting together an awesome mix of R & B and Soul with a twist of modern jazzy pop that makes me wanna bust my dancing shoes off its hiding place. And no I am not claiming to be a dancer, but I do like to dance especially if the occasion calls for it.

And most importantly, the lyrics; yes, I am very critical when it comes with the lyrics, must be the frustrated poet in me or something; anyways, the lyrics, it’s heartfelt and sad. You would think that because it is an upbeat-ish song it has a lovey dovey lyrics or something, wrong! It’s expressed with the way MBLAQ sung each single line of the lyrics – yearning and indecision. I particularly love the rap part, the way it sounded so sarcastic yet heartbreaking, that’s somehow a feat to express, I’m completely impressed.

To sum it all up, the picture this MV painted in my head is that of a guy, dancing and expressing his heart out trying to reach out to his lover who dumped him; somehow insisting that she is his air. Inspiring and overwhelming at the same time. Wicked! It’s such a good idea that I checked this MV, well probably not so good since I just took another step towards the point of no return but who cares. I’m going to explore some more and this is definitely not the last time I’ll be watching an MLAQ MV, that I am sure.

I’m In The Mood For: Lee Hong-ki’s Songs

I’ve been listening to songs by FT Island since morning, because I just can’t get enough of Lee Hong-ki’s voice specially today. His voice is so awesome to my ears it’s illegal, not to mention he looks abso-bloody-lutely adorable it’s ridiculous! I mean how soulful can this be:

Then there’s this too:

Of course some of their songs just wanna make you move it:

There’s also this re-donk-cilous song off the Heirs ost

So yes, I am in the mood for Hong-ki’s and FT Island’s songs, just because I’m giddy and everything else.

My Ear Candy: Let It Go

I recently seriously watched Disney’s Frozen, by seriously that means no skipping and without giving in to the urge to click forward and I must say, I was amazed. Well, that’s a given I think; I don’t think I’ll ever get over my love of anything Disney produced, animation or not. It must be because of the child in me, go figure but I adore and love Disney movies to pieces. Frozen is not an exception. I like the characters specially Olaf, of course little Anna (thanks to her I’ve been stuck with the question “do you wanna build a snowman?” for a few days now) and Elsa. I specially love her song, Let It Go, it’s very emotional, it shows her acceptance and conclusion that “it’s okay now, I’m going to be true to myself, I’ll stop hiding what I am and live the way I want to.” Here’s the clip from YouTube:

My search result also showed that the song included in the OST is sung by Demi Lovato. I like her version too. In case you haven’t heard it yet here’s Demi sporting a hair color like Elsa’s:

There’s also a Korean version by Hyorin and I have to say, her version is rocking, well at least as per my opinion but you be the judge:

But what I love the most is this version:

This boy is awesome! Every time I feel uninspired to write a poem, I listen to his covers and the words would flow. The sound coming from a violin is like an essence of inspiration to me and this boy can really play, he’s exemplary. 🙂

Uhm, by now you have an idea that this is my LSS and I am obsessing with it since I listened to different versions, yeah, I’m like that, obsessive sometimes.

Weekend Song Obsession: Titanium

And it’s my weekend again and like a usual weekend, I sort of devote today to house chores, rest and if possible, catch up with some of the dramas. Well I covered the chores and some of the rest but I can’t bring myself to watch some dramas because I am obsessing with this:

I’ve been playing this over and over in different version thanks to Soundcloud, I was even singing to it as I take my hour long bath. Sorry, that’s an overshare but either way, it does stress how forgone my obsession is and I have a feeling it’s gonna continue on until later. Oh well, let’s have a break from dramas then plus there’s no episode 14 of My Love From Another Star this week anyways.

Here’s another proof that I am currently obsessing with this song, surprisingly I had the guts to upload me singing it at soundcloud, you’re welcome to listen at your own risk. I won’t take responsibility for your bellyache if you laugh so hard because of it.

Anyways, Annyeong, I’m just passing by and while I’m at it, I would like to say Happy Lunar New Year everyone!

[That Tune on a Monday] Don’t Cry

Since I am currently into I Need Romance 3, it’s quite natural that I lean to its OST too, and surprisingly, I like it so far.  Don’t Cry, one of the songs off the OST is a very heartfelt song and when it was played during that scene at the crossroad, I feel it’s appropriate, at least to my opinion. So why do I find it appealing? Is it because of the title or the lyrics that I of course read the English translation or the melody? Well, first it’s the title, then the melody, lastly the lyrics.

If it’s not yet obvious, I would like to state that I was stubborn when I was younger, by that I mean from my teenage years until my early 20s and honestly, I think that’s normal at that age. You learn as you grow old, not unless you’re too proud to think that you’re not making any mistake of course, but if you are honest with yourself and you contemplate about what you’ve done, then it’s different, everything is a completely new picture. During those time, I get scolded by my mother three times or maybe more a day and you know how when people are angry they say words that they don’t really mean, (at least now I see it that way, it was a whole lot different during that time) you know those hurtful words that stings more than a slap does. The words that get me by during that time are “don’t cry.” I repeat it about 20 times a day because I don’t want to show how hurt I am. I did the same the first time I left the country, as I make my way to the check in area I repeat in my head: don’t cry, don’t let your mother see you cry. Don’t cry; don’t let your brother feel how sad you are. I try so hard to be cool. Now, I still resent crying but not for the same reason as before but because I end up having a migraine attack the next day if I cry. So, basically, no tear shedding as much as possible, that’s the word, as much as possible.

Next the melody, the tugging to the heart melody with sultry bittersweet vocals; it gives off the right feelings all thanks to it being played using a piano. Apart from the violin, the piano I think gives off that melancholic mood that can be felt especially if it’s a very slow tempo. The base helps too; it gives that slow rocky sort of alternative makeover to the plain tingling tune of the piano. When I closed my eyes while listening to the song, the picture I see in my head is one worth writing a poem about and breaking down while reading it, which I think I am going to post by Wednesday.

Lastly the lyrics, the translation I took from popgasa.com:

Don’t Cry

Lee Hyeri

There’s still so many things to remember
so I can’t escape even now
you keep digging deeper into me

Today is the same as yesterday
nothing will change tomorrow
so I cowardly shut the door

Don’t cry, in this darkness
don’t cry, protect yourself
don’t cry, don’t cry

Don’t cry, until always
don’t cry, feel me
don’t cry, I won’t let go

Love is in the memories
it’s in the floating smoke
it’s in the pouring fatigue

Sadness is in my heart
it’s in the fallen flower petals
it’s in the wheels of time

Don’t cry, in this darkness
don’t cry, protect yourself
don’t cry, don’t cry

Don’t cry, until always
don’t cry, feel me
don’t cry, I won’t let go

Living on
Disappearing
Living on
Disappearing

Don’t cry, in this darkness
don’t cry, protect yourself
don’t cry, don’t cry

Don’t cry, until always
don’t cry, feel me
don’t cry, I won’t let go

Don’t cry
don’t cry
don’t cry, don’t cry

The flower petals silently fly away
Time wordlessly ticks on
at some point, it all turns back around.

Right, so don’t cry. Love can affect a person two ways, it’s either love breaks you or make you. And as I see it, in the case of this song, love broke the person and that person refuse to step out of that walls that person built as a protection. There’s that recoil, which I get and I understand. Most people tend to stop eating for a bit if their tongue gets burned, I believe it is the same concept.

That’s the song I am listening to, melancholic, melodic and somehow nostalgic.

[That Tune on a Monday] Dolphin

I’m currently watching I Hear Your Voice and is enjoying it immensely; why didn’t I watched it before? As always, I have a song stuck in my head since watching the drama because Korean Dramas mostly or always have awesome, rocking soundtrack. That’s a must as I have observed, it’s not an add on; it’s part of the package.

The song is very catchy and simple that I didn’t just find myself singing to it, am also swaying with it. Now, since I am sold with the melody and all, because I am me who needs to know the gist of what I am listening to, I searched the web for an English translation. I found one and I’m not completely sold with it and I didn’t want to go all Google Translate so let it be. I do somewhat get some of the lyrics based on the Romanization:

You, oh you! neoreul chajeul su itge

[You, oh you! I want to find you (?)]

You, oh you! neoreul jikigo sipeo

[You, oh you! I want to protect you (?)]

The italic lines in pink font is my somehow translation. I should really take studying seriously.

Either way, the song is groovy so I don’t care and it’s not like I can shake it out of my head at this point. It’s come, come, coming a coming around to me.

[That Tune on a Monday] The Climb

I am somewhat a bit not myself lately for reasons that I don’t want to delve on. No, I don’t want to delve on it but I have a feeling it’s just that time of the year; that time when you get to thinking while downing a bottle of beer: “what the hell am I doing with my life?” which seriously, I do not have an answer. True I am trying my hardest to earn a living but I do not have a savings account and there is plenty of other stuff running in my head but I don’t want to breakdown and I am not interested in a pity party. During these times, my only friend is my music player, works like magic too. As I set it on shuffle like I always do when I’m in a slump, The Climb by Miley Cyrus played and I had to stop for a bit. Ah, yes, this song, why didn’t I think of listening to this song right away anyways, I must really be not in my right mind.

The Climb is one of my “pick me up” songs and no it’s not because I am a Hannah Montana or a Miley Cyrus fan; it is something that has to do with the lyrics and melody, which is very positive and true. Let’s take the Chorus for example:

There’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose

Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb.

The way I look at these lines is life would always throw something challenging at you, either good or bad but either way you’ll have to face it to grow into a better you and that growth is all that matters. Isn’t that inspiring? It is to me. And until I feel better, until I feel like myself again, I’m gonna keep this on repeat.

[That Tune on a Monday] Mad

I was going through the ringtones that I’ve collected over time the other day, thinking of deleting some in my attempt to free spaces in my iPhone (I’ve already removed most of the games and some of the songs but I’m still not contented) and I came across this song and had to pause. Ah of course, that song by Ne-Yo, if feels so long time ago and it is but the charm is still there.

It’s funny how some songs can make you smile and sad at the same time, what do they call that again, bittersweet; ah yes, bittersweet, a strange combination of the bitter and the sweet. And now I’m reminiscing what I’ve kept behind me all this time.

True, we buried the hatchet and decided to go on our separate ways although sometimes the messages are still there, it’s not like I’d jump on that same ship again. I had enough. Although I’ll remember you everytime I hear this song, I’ll dwell on the sweet not the bitter after all that was one of the good times of my life, and we did comply with the lyrics of this song. I don’t think I can remember a time that I went to bed mad at you, Y; well not until that day you walked out that door that is.
